Many of us have seen the new speech sound norms infographic published by McLeod and Crowe circulating on the internet and there are a lot of feelings about what this means for school based SLPs. We are thrilled to have Kelly Farquharson, Associate Professor at FSU and speech sound expert, in the confessional to chat all about it! This episode was eye opening for us as we discovered that these norms aren’t “new” and we have been interpreting the standard circulated norms (i.e. Iowa-Nebraska) all wrong. This is an important discussion and one that made us a bit nervous as sometimes researchers and practicing clinicians view the therapy world through a different lens. Tune in to find out how this conversation went down.
